Surgery

There are times your pet may need surgery, and Midwest Veterinary Clinic is equipped to handle most types of surgery your pet may need, from routine surgical procedures, such as spaying and neutering, to more complex soft-tissue surgery such as foreign object removal.

Midwest Veterinary Hospital veterinarians are highly skilled in performing veterinary surgeries and will make every effort to ensure that your pet comfortable and treated as if our own while in our care. Our staff of compassionate, caring professionals will monitor your pet before, during, and after surgery and will take exceptional care of your pet to ensure your pet's safe and complete recovery.

Prior to surgery, we will also address any questions or concerns you may have about surgery, including concerns about anesthesia, pain management, or postoperative care.

When your pet is ready to go home, we will review your postoperative care and medication instructions. If any questions arise after your pet returns home or at any other time during the postoperative period, call us. We welcome your questions and will do all we can to help your pet recover fully. Help is only a phone call away.

At Midwest Veterinary Clinic, here is a list of some of the surgeries our veterinarians perform:
  • Tumor removal
  • Bladder stone removal
  • Bone fractures
  • Cesarean section (C-section birth)
  • Spay/neuter
  • Foreign object removal
  • Mass removal
  • Orthopedic Surgeries ( Fracture, Amputation, Cruciate Ligament Repair, Patella luxation)

Anesthesia and Your Pet
We perform a variety of pre-anesthetic tests to carefully screen patients to be sure your pet is healthy for anesthesia, and we tailor our anesthetic protocol specifically for your pet. Our trained staff and doctors monitor your pet before, during, and after anesthesia using monitoring equipment including blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation and respiratory rate. We also take time to answer any questions or address any concerns you may have about the medications, monitoring, and care your pet will receive. We use a multimodal approach to anesthesia, meaning your pet may receive different types of medications depending upon the procedure, such as local anesthetics to numb a particular area, anti-inflammatory drugs to reduce swelling and pain medications similar to what is used in human hospital
